I went back to Alabama for Thanksgiving. It was a quick trip packed full of things. Most of the events were not enthralling. However, Black Friday was excellent.

Several weeks in the making, I'm posting the truncated story of my trip back to Alabama. Some stories and names were changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

As some of you know, I drove up to Portland, Oregon to spend the long weekend hanging out with J. J moved to Portland shortly after I moved to L.A. Despite much mutual desire to make the trip vertical across the country, it took two years to come to fruition. Here are the deets.

I might have won the battle against the ants, but the war is still raging. Armed with several weapons of mass destruction, I continue to wage war against these imperialistic assholes.

In 4 hours I'm leaving to go to the airport. In 6.5 hours, I should be traveling at 300 MPH at 30,000 feet (or something light that). In 12 hours or so, I should be sitting in LAX waiting for Tammy. Then, nothing is decided.

Quick Updates

It's way too warm in Colorado this year. It's the best slush I have ever had to ski (that should be read as the worst snow, kinda like my best enemy would the person doing the best job at being an enemy... right? never-mind). It snowed a little last night, which made skiing in the upper part of the mountain great. The lower part sucked.

iPod + RX-8

I purchased my 20 GB iPod just 20 minutes ago. I also got a car charger. Now the trip to Colorado will be so much better. The sales person tried to sell me the Applecare warranty. While it would be nice, I don't anticipate any problems, except with the battery. However, I reckon the guy was wrong when he said "it's a bugaboo for 95%" of the people who bought one. I told him the replacement batteries were about the same price, so I wasn't worried. He tried to inform me that it wasn't user replaceable. I launched into a coughing fit at that point, so I gave him the thumbs up sign. That could have been interpreted as "Okay" or "Most users are sheep." I have no qualms with popping open devices. If I did, I would have spent a shit ton of money on time installing parts on my machines. It's not like I have to worry about voiding the warranty, since I didn't buy one.
